Crescent Head

Crescent Head is an unspoilt coastal town on the mid north coast of New South Wales.  The town is bookended by two coastal national parks and has a flood plain that protects it from ever suffering the rampant development that has changed other naturally beautiful coastal areas.  There are no traffic lights or backpacker hostels.  There are no houses built on the pristine beaches.

Crescent Head’s weather is amongst the most temperate in the world.

“The Track” on Crescent Head’s main beach is recognized as a National Surfing Reserve and the long right hander is claimed to be the Malibu capital of Australia.  Close by, there are other, often-deserted, point breaks and numerous beach breaks.  With a population of about 1,000 the overcrowding of Byron Bay, Noosa, the Gold Coast or Sydney are a million miles away.

There are a variety of quality fishing options including tidal creeks, beaches, rocks and open water.  The pristine sites for scuba diving include the world-famous “Cave Rock”, just off South West Rocks, with igutters teeming with grey nurse sharks.

The Crescent Head Country Club has a spectacular 6 hole golf course that hugs the coast. They also offer lawn bowls and tennis.  The club have a Bistro and Chinese restaurant.  The town has an excellent bakery and a cool little café.  There is a Thai restaurant, pizza shop, a restaurant at the tavern and a take away shop.  Other businesses include a small supermarket, fruit shop, chemist, surgery, post office and service station.  There is a local public swimming pool, outdoor basketball courts and five playing fields.  The town has a doctor and vet.

Kempsey is the nearest large town, on the Pacific Highway, twenty kilometres inland. Kempsey has a hospital and five supermarkets.  The closest airport is about 60 kilometres south in Port Macquarie, where a number of airlines fly to Sydney and regional centres. .  Port Macquarie offers a full range of medical specialists and a large regional hospital.

It is about 430 Kilometres to Sydney by road, all of which will be dual carriageway within two years.

Crescent Head has an excellent pre-school and a wonderful primary school, while there are five secondary schools in Kempsey, serviced by buses from Crescent Head.

Point Plomer Road

.

Point Plomer Road accesses some of the North Coast’s most beautiful, pristine beaches.  It has a unique place in Australia’s surf folklore.

Most of the road that connects Crescent Head with Point Plomer to the south is gravel and the difficulty of access has protected the land from development.  It remains like so much of the north coast once was; long deserted beaches, rugged headlands, forests and occasional small farms. On the coastal side of the “Back Road” a strip of national park stretches from Point Plomer to Crescent Head.

There are regular sightings of whales over the months of their migration, while pods of dolphins continually trawl the beaches.  Local wetlands support a huge variety of birdlife.  Kangaroos, dingoes, koalas and goannas are among the native wildlife that freely roams the surrounding scenically protected mountains and the inland flood plain.

Very few properties have views, hence virtually no houses are visible from the beaches.  Legendary spots include “Racecourse”, Delicate Nobby, Big Hill, Point Plomer and “Queens”.

Its ideal for if you want a family home with a relaxed, natural, safe lifestyle, if you are a retired couple with family and friends who like to visit paradise, if you want a premium holiday rental property, or you want a spectacular property to realise your own dreams.
